Program Description
The French minor provides a robust foundational knowledge in language, literature, culture, professional French and film that prepares you for exciting careers and opens many doors. The sequence of courses will lead to a senior capstone project, and you will receive personalized mentoring for it. A French minorcan be combined with another major.

Experiences
- Faculty-led summer study abroad programs, such as at the Catholic University of LyonÂ
- Service learning with the local Haitian community, other immigrants or families from French-speaking AfricaÂ
- French Club on campusÂ
- For several classes, students are given a French-speaking tour of the collections at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
- Pi Delta Phi (National French Honor Society)Â
- Students have the opportunity to become French tutors in the Aylward-Dunn Learning Center on campus Â

Outcomes
- Our French majors have won teaching assistantships from the French government for the TAPIF program to teach English in France.Â
- Graduates of the French program go on to pursue careers as French teachers, translators and in business.
